Q. What is a TRASH TRAPPER ? A. The TRASH TRAPPER is a polyester mesh bag that hangs from a plastic holder attached to the boat. The bag has an elastic band at the top to keep it closed but still allow the user to easily dispose of trash. Back on shore take the TRASH TRAPPER off its holder, unzip the bottom, and release your refuse into a designated trash receptacle, or sort the contents for recycling. Rinse with the hose, reattach the bag, and you're ready for your next outing. Q. Are replacement bags available? A. Yes. They should be available from the dealer where you bought your TRASH TRAPPER. Or, you can order them direct from the manufacturer by filling out the form packaged with the unit or by calling our Toll Free number, 877-833-6699. Q. How does the user attach the TRASH TRAPPER? A. There is an adhesive strip on the back of the bag holder that adheres to clean, dry wax free surfaces. You just peel the protective backing from the adhesive and apply. While the bag is designed to be removable, the holder is designed to stay attached to the mounting surface. For this reason be sure that you install the holder in the correct position the first time. The holder can be removed, if desired, but the adhesive cannot be reused. It can also be mounted by using screws through the holes in the bag holder or by strapping it around a rail using electrical ties through the holes. It can also be mounted on the inside of a hatch cover so that the TRASH TRAPPER is out of sight when the hatch is closed. Detailed mounting instructions are included inside the TRASH TRAPPER package. Q. Should the holder be mounted on the inside or the outside of the boat? A. Inside, preferably on a vertical or near vertical surface where the full bag won't be in the way as you move around the boat. Q. Won't the bag blow off at high speed? A. During 18 months of field testing I have not experienced any problems with the bag coming off of the holder. However, when trailering I have had to remove the bag and store it elsewhere because it does tend to flap at high speeds. For this reason we recommend removing the bag and storing it elsewhere if this problem could develop. Q. What kind of warranty does the TRASH TRAPPER have? A. The TRASH TRAPPER is warranted to be free from manufacturing and material defects for a period of one year from date of purchase by the original purchaser. Instructions on how to obtain warranty service are included in the bag with the TRASH TRAPPER. Q. Are there any other sizes of the TRASH TRAPPER available? A. Not at this time. The TRASH TRAPPER can hold nearly 5 gallons. For increased storage capacity we suggest that you purchase additional units and place them at strategic locations around the boat. Q. Have you considered any other uses for the TRASH TRAPPER? A. Yes, several suggestions have already been made. One lady who lives on a sailboat is using hers to keep her cosmetics corralled. Another example of places it may be used is on Golf Carts. We have an insert in the TRASH TRAPPER bag where we ask for alternative uses. If we feel that the suggestion is unique, we will send the suggestor a free TRASH TRAPPER. Q. Why did you invent the TRASH TRAPPER? A. Tom Schafer replies: “I got back into boating after 24 years and discovered that I had no place to throw my trash except on the deck where it was underfoot creating a safety hazard and could be blown out of the boat, or in the ice chest where it got to be a cold soggy mess. I didn't want to use a plastic bucket because it was always in the way . Deck space on a boat is always at a premium, so I looked for some other way to solve the problem and the TRASH TRAPPER evolved. The fact that it aids recycling was serendipitous.” Q.
